Brian Brooks is a sophomore from Norwood, Massachusetts, who attended the Dexter School in Brookline, Massachusetts. At Dexter, Brian played four years of varsity football and basketball. After injuring his arm playing baseball his sophomore season, Brian picked up crew his junior spring. He would go on to be elected captain his senior year and win the team’s MVP award as well. After vowing to never row again upon leaving Dexter, Brian joined the rowing team his freshman year at Boston College. That year Brian battled to win a seat in the First Novice Eight, winning a silver medal at the Head of the Fish Regatta his first fall campaign. In the spring, that same boat went on to make the Grand Finals at Knecht Cup, win the Greater Boston Invitational and take third at ECAC’s, although illness kept him out of the boat as his crew went on to win the New England Championships. At the ACRA National Championships in Georgia, his boat edged out Purdue in a thrilling repechage to make the Grand Final, finishing eighth overall.
