Peter McDermott

Peter is a senior from Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Saint Xavier High School in his hometown and was a varsity sprinter, holding school records in the 60 meter sprint and 4x100m relay. He was also the Kentucky State Champion in the 300 meter hurdles. When he joined the rowing team his freshman year, he earned a seat in the First Novice Eight. This boat went on to place 3rd in New Englands and the ECAC Championships as well as 8th in the ACRA National Championship in Gainesville, Georgia. His sophomore year, Peter was in the 2nd Varsity Eight for the year, rowing in the Head of the Charles and Knecht Cup, in addition to the championship races. As a junior, he spent the fall semester studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, but returned to join the 2nd Varsity Eight for the spring racing season. Peter is a Political Science and Hispanic Studies double major in the College of Arts and Sciences, and is the son of Meg and Jay McDermott.
