Established in 1987, BC Men’s Rowing has given the opportunity of high-level training and competition to three and a half decades of student-athletes. We are thrilled to be back for another season of hard racing and diligent training, but we need your help to fundraise $30,000 for our 2024 campaign.
Since returning from COVID, BC Men’s Rowing has been responsible for nearly all of our Coaches’ stipends. As a consequence, our short-term financial situation is weaker than in year’s past. These expenses include everything from equipment and travel, to uniforms and racing fees.
Donate today to help us raise the funds we need to keep BC ahead in a pivotal season for our team’s trajectory.
A Watershed Year
Like the rest of the world, BC Men’s Rowing was not spared by the COVID-19 pandemic. The team was unable to operate at any capacity during the 2020-2021 school year, disadvantaging us with a 538-day hiatus going into the fall two years ago. Progress regaining our footing had been met with many challenges. The team entered 2023-2024 with perhaps the youngest roster to date. We started the year with only 12 returners from the 2023 spring season and grew the team to 30+ rowers and coxswains, which lead to a successful year of rebuilding.
The team enters 2024-2025 with a high number of returners. We started this year with strong recruitment for the fall season as well, which has translated to three competitive varsity 8+ boats and a developing novice 8+ boat racing. We are already well underway building speed and technique in preparation for a competitive spring season. We have seen some of the fastest erg scores in recent team history this fall and some glimpses of serious speed on the water. We are excited to see, not only what we can accomplish this year, but also what we can build in the coming years.
Recent Years
Since 2017, BC Men’s Rowing has seen tremendous growth, including our first ever American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship, multiple top-3 ACRA finishes, a handful of New England Championship medals (including a team points trophy), and a top 10 finish at the Head of the Charles, just to name a few accomplishments.
As a student-led Club Team, we rely on a combination of dues and generous donations from friends, family, and alumni to fuel our season.
